Hello Easy Changes! Thank you so much for taking some time for us. Where are you at the moment?
- Hello, thank you for your interesting we always glad to answer on few nice question.
Last few months we were in Berlin from where we also was traveling around europe to play. now we came back to Moscow to do a visas for europe and also will try to get visas for United States because we plan to make a US tour in September. Actually we already tried to do it and we had booked for playing in 6 cities of US but made wrong few papers for embassy and they said no so now its time to get new chance. Its really nice to being here in Moscow to met a lot of friend to have fun with them at good parties and to wait summer that still didn't came.
You are considered as a symbol for underground techno scene in Russia. Tell us, how is the situation there right now? Any talents, new ways in music or something like that?
- If we talk about parties and night life of Moscow i can say that we love it a lot. Most of time we even like parties here more than somewhere else. I think its because we have "arma17" club who every month doing big parties with great line up everytime. Also our own promo group "nervmusic" doing more smaller but not less good events too. As about new talents or artists i have not too much to say. I mean if we talk about techno music, Moscow already have a few known artists but we are not really into his sound but i believe that now its time when people who are visiting those good events will impress from music that they are hear there and will surprise us his own tracks in near future and we know that its happen already. Otherwise we are proud of our friends who making good and professional instrumental hip-hop music they like a doing the same as we doing but in another place. We always support each others and its nice.
You have released EPs on labels such as Foundsound, Stock5 (will be out soon) or Multi vitamins. Do you feel some influences of these labels on your own work?
- Actually I think that we are not really into influences from any labels or artists. I mean of course it was good experience for us to work with labels such as foundsound, stock5 or multivitamins we also really like this labels and his artists and we are big friends with them but we think that we have unique sound that came not just only from influences of labels or music but from everything in our live for example from traveling, from parties, from friends, from childhood, from animals, from nature and even from accidents sometimes and of course some of it came from space especially from big hole in centre of our universe.
It has been almost 2 years since your last release (exc. remixes). Is there anything that you are working on right now?
- Sure. We have a lot of work now. First of all we are working hard on our own label called nervmusic. Our first nervmusic release is done and really soon it will be in the shops. It will be our own release with remix from known french minimal master cabanne. At the same time we are working on releases for Mean label run by our big friend cesare vs disorder that will out in september also our release for stock5 is almost done and must come this year and also one release for the label called 31337 records that now is releasing only digital but will run vinyl very soon and we'll be his second release on vinyl. Of course as you understand we cant tell you everything but what we sure is that this year will be hot for us.
Of course. I’ve caught some information about founding your own label… Tell us about this plan…
- Yes its true we started vinyl label and to be honestly very happy of that cause we dreamed about it since we start to work as easy changes so it was like 4-5 years ago and now the dreams makes come true. As i told before first release will be our EP with remix from cabanne also we made a movie clip for track from this record called "gneedos" and you can find it somewhere in internet. Of course in plans we have more than just one record but we would like to keep this info in secret for a while. But we can say that in future we'll release artists like Rudolf, Daze Maxim, Benjamin Fehr, Seuil and many others. So we are pretty sure that it will be massive business.
You play very often in Germany. Is there any difference between Moscow‘s and for ex. Berlin‘s parties?
- To be honestly not really often. We played in Berlin only at weekend, maria am ostbahnhoff, berghain kantine and klub der republik. Other time that we spend in europe we played in another countries like Italy, Spain, Switzerland and also other cities of Germany. As about differences btw Berlin and Moscow we can say that we think Berlin's techno scene is old it work from 90's or even 80's, people partying like 5-6 days per week, almost every day there is some really good artist who play its really amazing!!! we love that. For example in Moscow people can partying only friday or saturday night and the really good line up on the event you can find only once or two times in month but its amazing too cause each event is big thing for people who sometimes really waiting it.
so each cities have his own pluses and minuses.
Do you have any favorite DJ or producer now?
- Our references in producers is changing very often but we have few favorite artists thats never changed its Bruno Pronsato with all his projects especially Half Hawaii also Rudolf is on top at the moment also Pheek is really good now and many more... but we don't have favorite DJ I don't know why may be its because we are DJ's too and our own choose in music is our favorite of course. I mean sometimes we are really enjoyed of DJing from different artists but we cant say who is the favorite.
What music equipment you are using for making tracks?
- We have few hardwares tools but actually we use it for live most of time and not so often for making tracks. We use Aleton Live 8 and Logic Pro 8 for arrangement but most of sounds we take from Native Instruments Reaktor 5. This tool is our favorite for sure without it i cant even imagine ourselves. Also we take a lot of samples from old vinyl records of 70's or even 60's like it do most of hip-hop musicians but we do it another way with using Reaktor and for another music as well. Also we love to use sounds from movies from kitchens from nature and from anything what can we record.
Where do you see Easy Changes in 5 years?
- We see millions places and ways where we can be. One thing we are pretty sure that it will be really good times for us and actually no matter where it will be. Our dream is to get possibilities to being everywhere you want cause now its always depends of our visas if we can get it we can be there if not well we cant...
Also we can clear imagine ourselves somewhere in Prague or in small Swiss town in the mountains as owners of small bar in a bar stage. That would be perfect.
In Prague? Glad to hear it :o) ... OK, next - What do you enjoy more – producing or DJing?
It's different kind of enjoying. for example when you are producing music you enjoying every little sound you found. Then you feel like you track become more better and better every hour of your working and you enjoying that feeling. Then you feel pleasure when track is done and you enjoying it and then you show your work to your close friends and you see like his faces is changing like his lags is kicking your rhythm and its making you happy. But sometimes it takes a lot of time otherwise when you playing like a dj you can put one track and receive in this moment big vibe from people who dance and its enjoying too but for less time. So its really different but both thing are really amazing and we cant live without any kind of this enjoying:)
